S ummer 2019 is coming to an end and therefore the time has come: The 3rd ÖGSL Newsletter informs you about current and upcoming ÖGSL activities.

We have already started a new season of schnee.semmelnars* with an Arctic topic “TLS monitoring of Arctic avalanche hazards for improved hazard forecasting routines”. We invite you to meet us at the Avalanche Symposium in Graz (https://akademie.naturfreunde.at/events/angebot/lawinensymposium-2019/). Furthermore we are already in the middle of the preparation of the “schnÖGSL” lectures that will take place at the turn of the year and are happy to present the ÖGSL Young Snow Professional Award for the ISSW 2020 (Fernie, CA):

ISSW 2020 – ÖGSL Young Snow Professional (YS) Award:

For the ISSW 2020 in Fernie (Canada) (http://www.issw2020.com/) there will be a “Travel Grant” (1.500 EUR as support for conference fee and travel). The Award and the associated grant are aimed at young practitioners and scientists under 30 years of age who wish to submit a contribution to the ISSW. The respective work must be carried out under the leadership of an Austrian institution/company. A committee will evaluate the contributions according to simple guidelines (originality and innovation, relevance, quality, contribution to the ISSW motto: “Research for Practice – Practice for Research”). General information about the ISSW and guidelines on how contributions should look like can be found on the ISSW 2018 homepage (https://www.issw2018.com/) and soon on the ISSW 2020 homepage. For questions and submission of contributions please contact info@oegsl.at directly and note the following dates:

  • Submission for the YSP Award (by mail, informal – title & abstract – 350 words) until December 31, 2019
  • The best contributions will be invited to a short lecture in February-Semmelnar (February 3rd, 2019)
  • Submission of contributions to ISSW 2020 (April 27t, 2020 and August 24th 2020) and participation (04-09 October 2020).

D er Sommer 2019 neigt sich dem Ende und deshalb ist es soweit: Der dritte ÖGSL Newsletter informiert euch über die aktuellen und kommenden ÖGSL Aktivitäten. Wir haben bereits mit einem Arktischen Thema “TLS monitoring of Arctic avalanche hazards for improved hazard forecasting routines” und einem regionalin eine neue Saison der schnee.semmelnare* gestartet und laden euch ein, uns auf dem Lawinensymposium in Graz zu treffen (zur Website →). Darüber hinaus sind wir schon mitten in der Vorbereitung der “schnÖGSL” Vorträge die um den Jahreswechsel stattfinden werden und freuen uns euch den ÖGSL Young Snow Professional Award für die ISSW 2020 (Fernie, CA) vorzustellen:

ISSW 2020 – ÖGSL Young Snow Professional (YSP) Award

Für die ISSW 2020 in Fernie, Kanada (zur Website →) wird es einen “Travel Grant” geben (1.500 EUR als Unterstützung für Tagungsgebühr und Reise). Der Award und der damit verbundene Grant richten sich an junge Praktiker und Wissenschaftler unter 30 Jahren, welche einen Beitrag zur ISSW einreichen möchten. Die entsprechende Arbeit muss federführend an einer/einem Österreichischen Institution/Betrieb durchgeführt werden. Ein Komitee wird die Beiträge nach einfachen Richtlinien bewerten (Originalität und Innovation, Relevanz, Qualität, Beitrag zum ISSW Motto: “Forschung für die Praxis – Praxis für die Forschung”). Allgemeine Informationen zum Ablauf des ISSW und Richtlinien wie Beiträge aussehen, findet ihr auf der ISSW 2018 Homepage bzw. bald auch auf der ISSW 2020 homepage. Bei Fragen und Einreichungen von Beiträgen bitte direkt an info@oegsl.at wenden und folgende Termine beachten:

  • Einreichung zum YSP Award (per mail, formlos – Titel & Abstract – 350 Wörter) bis
    31.12.2019
  • Die besten Beiträge werden im Februar-Semmelnar zu einem Kurzvortrag eingeladen
    (03.02.2019)
  • Einreichung der Beiträge bei ISSW 2020 (27. April 2020 bzw. 24. August 2020) und
    Teilnahme (04.-09. Oktober 2020)
